Installing firmware

Extract the ZIP file, copy only the firmware file to the root directory of a FAT32-formatted USB drive, and insert it into the HDfury Arcana USB-A port. Confirm the update on the OLED display. After completion, power the device fully off and back on.

File name: Arcana uses arcanafw.bin; Arcana 2 uses arcana-2.bin.

The question everyone arrives with is what changed between two firmware versions. The honest answer comes first, then everything that is verifiable.

Why there are no per-version release notes here

HDfury does not publish a public changelog per firmware version for the HDfury Arcana or the Arcana 2. Rather than invent plausible-sounding entries — which people would then use to decide whether to flash a device — this page lists only what can be verified: version number, release date, file size and which model it belongs to. For anything beyond that, the official HDfury product documentation and HDfury support are the sources.

When it is worth updating

A problem you actually have — a handshake that fails, a format that will not pass, an EDID quirk. Firmware fixes are the reason to flash.
A new source device in the chain, especially an HDMI 2.1 console or a new display. Newer firmware has seen more hardware.
HDfury support asks you to, as part of diagnosing something.

When it is not

Everything works. An HDMI chain that is stable is a chain worth leaving alone; a failed flash costs you far more than the update was going to gain.
You want to go back to an older version on a unit that shipped with 0.87 or newer. Do not, unless HDfury support specifically tells you to.
You cannot guarantee stable power for the duration of the update.

Checking which version you have

The firmware version is shown on the HDfury Arcana's OLED display. Turn the rotary control to the status or info screen; the version appears there. It is worth writing down before you flash, so you know what you came from.
