For streaming up to 4K60, both models work well.
This streaming solution is often used for Netflix, Disney+, Apple TV+, Prime Video and other apps. Correct HDMI and audio settings prevent Dolby Atmos from being reduced to stereo or compressed audio.
Arcana extracts audio from the HDMI signal before a TV or projector can restrict it. A compatible soundbar or receiver can therefore receive the best available soundtrack while the video signal continues to the display.
Arcana is usually sufficient. Choose Arcana 2 for a second output, HDMI audio or a more future-ready system.

The settings above are the starting point. These are the things that most often go wrong on this specific device.
Fire TV defaults are conservative and will happily transcode everything to stereo or plain Dolby Digital. Set Surround Sound to Best Available and switch Dolby Digital Plus on. Without that, the Arcana faithfully passes through a stream that was already downgraded before it arrived.
Fire TV apps do not all honour the system audio setting equally. If one app gives Atmos and another does not with identical settings, that is the app, not the chain.
